On the flip side, Superior Drummer 3's UI is much more user friendly, and it's much more intuitive to tweak drum sounds to match your preferences, and the cymbal samples are much more convincing.

If you don’t already have an iLok account, you’ll need to create one and install the iLok License Manager app. That means to use it, you will need to connect its iLok license to your computer either on your hard drive or an iLok USB stick. Also, FWIW, I find SSD's cymbal samples to be lacking - they don't sound as lush or full as a professionally recorded drum track should sound, especially not the hi-hats. Steven Slate Drums 5 software is licensed with iLok. As far as VST drums go there are some good choices and most have demos.

Mabey the full version is better but I have no time for half baked demos. I had that Steven Slate drums demo and got rid of it. Follow along as one of the factory kits is customized with layered electronic and acoustic sounds, third party samples are imported and re-mapped, a part is programmed from scratch, multi output routing is setup, and MixRack processing is applied to each output in the host DAW.
I have Steven Slate Drums 5 and Superior Drummer 3, but primarily use Superior Drummer 3 (Trigger is something completely different - that's for replacing a previously recorded drum track with samples, rather than programming a drum track from scratch).
